Lipo 360 recovery is a gradual process that unfolds over several months. While most patients return to normal daily activities within 1–2 weeks, the full healing and contouring process continues for up to 6 months. Here is what to expect at each stage.
Days 1–3: Initial Recovery
The first few days after Lipo 360 are the most uncomfortable. Expect:
- Significant swelling, bruising, and soreness throughout the treated midsection
- Drainage of tumescent fluid through small incision sites (this is normal and expected)
- Fatigue from anesthesia and the body's healing response
- Compression garment must be worn at all times except showering
Have a caretaker available for the first 24–48 hours. Take prescribed medications on schedule and rest with your torso slightly elevated.
Week 1–2: Getting Mobile
Pain transitions to a dull ache manageable with over-the-counter medication by the end of week one. Most patients:
- Return to light desk work by days 7–10
- Begin gentle walking to support circulation and reduce blood clot risk
- Continue wearing compression garment continuously
- May begin lymphatic drainage massage sessions (surgeon's approval required)
Weeks 3–6: Visible Progress
Swelling decreases noticeably and the contoured silhouette begins to emerge. Bruising fades. Many patients feel well enough to resume normal daily activities. Restrictions during this period typically include:
- No strenuous exercise or heavy lifting until week 4–6 (surgeon's clearance)
- Continue compression garment during the day; may begin wearing only at night after week 4
- Avoid submerging incision sites in pools or baths
Months 2–6: Final Contouring
By month 2, you are seeing approximately 70–80% of your final result. Residual swelling in deeper tissues continues to resolve through month 6. The skin slowly retracts and tightens over the new contours. Activities return to normal, including exercise, after surgeon clearance at weeks 6–8. Final results are evaluated at 6 months post-surgery.
To protect and maximize your Lipo 360 results long-term, maintain a stable weight through balanced nutrition and regular activity. Significant weight gain after surgery can partially reverse your results.
